Saturday morning began with a visit to Panorama Raclawice, an amazing 140m long canvas which depicts the Battle of Raclawice in 1794. Our guide then took us on a fascinating tour through the city with all eyes peeled for the “krasnale” or gnomes. After a beautiful lunch of traditional Polish cuisine the tour continued on to the beautiful Old Town and the fantastic cathedral. Those who were still standing continued on the amazing Botanical Gardens to finish off a fantastic day of culture and research. |

On Sunday morning the group was on the road early for a visit to Ksiaz castle where our guide took us through the history of the largest castle in Lower Silesia from the thirteenth century right up to modern times. There was time for a walk through the beautiful garden terraces before the group set off for the truly amazing Church of Peace in Swidnica, dating back to the 17th century. Only wood, sand, clay and straw were allowed as construction materials for this church whose interior is decorated with stunning artwork. |
